Own Initiative
Did you know you can also use your DI hours for your own initiative or an external activity? For example, you could take an introductory lesson for a new sport, attend an external course, or visit a professional fair. On this page, you’ll find inspiration and examples to help you get started.
Do you have an idea for your own initiative and would you like to know whether it fits within Samen Sterk? Feel free to contact us to discuss the possibilities.
Practical information
In addition to all the training sessions, workshops, and coaching programs offered through Samen Sterk, you can also use your DI hours for activities outside JBT Marel — as long as they contribute to your long-term employability. It’s not intended for relaxation or free time, such as a spa day, hiking trip, or taking an extra day off. Always discuss your idea with your manager in advance. Any costs are at your own expense, but the activity can be done during working hours (up to 8 hours).
Some examples include:
- Preventive consultation with a specialist or coach (dietitian, sports doctor, coach of therapist)
- Introductory class or clinic in a sport
- Job shadowing a colleague
- Attending an external training or course ( workshops from FNV, lessons for a boat or trailer license, or online training via Psychology magazine or Ozone)
- Visiting a professional fair or networking event ( Technishow, WoTS, or META Vak)
Not allowed:
- Spa day
- Day of walking or cycling
- Practising your own sport
- Taking an extra day off
